accessibility, quality and cost effectiveness of Adult Day Services in

2008 Ann K Umstead Star of Excellence
Awarded to Suzi Kennedy
The Star of Excellence Award was created to recognize
outstanding leadership among adult day services leaders in North Carolina.
This year's award is given to Suzi Kennedy, Executive Director of Life
Enrichment Centers in Shelby and King's Mountain, NC. Suzi was
presented with her award at NCADSA's September conference.
Suzi is a long time member (25 years) and leader in NCADSA and she is
recognized nationally as an expert in growing adult day care in a rural
community. Her favorite saying about NCADSA..."the Association is to
adult day services providers what insulin is to a diabetic".
Congratulations Suzi! The Ann K Umstead Star
of Excellence Award is given annually in loving memory of its namesake to
members who are leaders and role models in the field of NC Adult Day
Services. Ann exemplified the characteristics of leadership that the
award is intended to recognize. She lost her battle with illness in
October 2006, but her spirit, wisdom and inspiration will live on in those
who were fortunate to have known her. We are truly better for the
experience.
